It's the holiday season! There is so much love, peace, and happiness in the air; friends are flying out, families are flying in, and and decorations and shopping seem to be the top two tasks on the agenda throughout the month. Everything about this particular season warrants feelings of promise. But as the year is coming to a close, one has to stop and think, and ask themselves:
“What was the mark that I made this year?”
This season is a season of giving, and a lot of us usually take that notion and only related to the act of gift-giving. Whether they are large or small, it seems that the key thing when everyone's mind is whether they can give the best gift this year. However, we tend to overlook the concept of giving in terms of who we are, instead of what we have. What does that mean exactly?
It's important that we remember that we give our time, to our loved ones and friends that we don't see as much throughout the year. We need to give love and acceptance, to those that have been overlooked, neglected, and pushed to the side based on a personal stigma or stereotype that's been placed on them. Lastly, it is important that we give second chances, in terms of forgiving those that wronged us, as well as forgiving ourselves for past mistakes and failures.
As the days fly by, please be reminded of the promise that is associated with the new year. With it comes a new experiences as well as a chance to start over. It is a reminder that past experiences do not define us if we don't allow it to. So, take on this season with a brand-new perspective. Choose love, choose laughter, and choose peace.
